Individual Therapy

Individual therapy with Dr. Carter starts with you and focuses on simplifying what has often been an overcomplicated process that is mental health. You are the expert of your life and you often have the best solutions to your challenges. Dr. Carter relies on the resources and strengths you already have coming into therapy to maximize the tools, skills and resources that function as a catalyst in uncovering your best Self. As such, Dr. Carter utilizes a multimodality approach to your work centered around skill building and working through your presenting challenges.

Dr. Carter endorses two different tracks for therapeutic work:

Track 1: For the individual that sees therapy as a solution to their challenge(s). Track 1 is solution focused and dynamic with an emphasis on skill building, symptom relief and efficiency. This track is for the driven individual who is willing to commit to doing training in and between sessions. You will be challenged, held accountable and experience more direct confrontation from your therapist with this model. Patterns will be identified and offered skills to work on between sessions. This track can be viewed as the "Therapeutic Training Model." We train skill sets for work, hobbies, sports and more. This track is a training model for your mental and emotional skills, skills that drive success in all other areas of life.

Track 2: For the individual who sees therapy as a lifelong health journey like physical exercise, a nutritious diet or proactively seeing their primary care physician. Some Track 1 patients will slide over into this category after experiencing the benefits of the "Therapeutic Training Model." Many aspects of Track 1 will be present in Track 2, but Track 2 is for the optimizer, the individual who is willing to run several Self driven experiments that can take months or potentially years to achieve optimization.
